Tip Tracker (“App”) is published by Code With Chris (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles and how.
Summary
Tip Tracker helps you log tips, hours, and related work details on your iPhone. Tip entries, photos you attach to those entries, and job settings stay on your device unless you turn on iCloud Backup or you choose to send something in Support & Feedback.
The App sends product-usage analytics to TelemetryDeck and PostHog and purchase/entitlement information to RevenueCat. Opening Support & Feedback is the only in-app path that sends a message, optional photo, and technical diagnostic metadata to Crisp.
Information Stored on Your Device
When you use the App, the following is stored locally on your iPhone:
- Tip amounts, dates, cash/card split, hours worked, job or location names, notes, total sales, and tip-out amounts you enter
- Photos you attach to tip entries
- Job locations, appearance, currency, week-start, and tip-out rules
- Onboarding, rating-prompt, and monetization-cohort flags
- Debug Pro override on developer builds only
iCloud Backup (Optional)
If you enable iCloud Backup in Settings, tip data (not photo attachments) may sync using Apple iCloud Key-Value / backup storage associated with your Apple ID. We do not operate a separate cloud account for your tips. Apple processes iCloud data according to Apple’s privacy policy.
Information We Do Not Collect
The App and its analytics providers do not automatically collect:
- Your name, email address, or phone number (unless you type them in support chat)
- Full tip records, dates, job names, notes, or photos attached to tip entries
- Contacts
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA/IDFV) for tracking
- Precise location
- The user-assigned name of your device
- RevenueCat API keys, account tokens, or other secrets
Information Processed by Third Parties
Apple (App Store & In-App Purchases)
If you purchase Tip Tracker Pro, payment is processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment card details. Apple may collect information according to its own policies.
RevenueCat (Purchase Status)
We use RevenueCat, Inc. to verify purchases and manage entitlements. RevenueCat may receive:
- An anonymous app user identifier generated by the App
- Purchase and entitlement status
- Basic device and app information needed to validate transactions
RevenueCat does not receive your tip logs or photos.

TelemetryDeck (Product Analytics)
We use TelemetryDeck to understand app usage (for example launches, settings actions, save performance, and purchase-funnel events). Events use a hashed identifier. Some existing save/edit events may include a tip amount, operation duration, or internal record identifier. They do not include notes, photos, or job names.

PostHog (Product Analytics)
We use PostHog, Inc. to measure anonymous installs, app opens, onboarding progress, paywall conversion, activation, and retention. PostHog may receive:
- An anonymous app user identifier shared with RevenueCat so client usage and purchase events can be correlated
- App version, device, operating-system, country-level, and product-interaction metadata supplied by the analytics SDK
- Closed-set event properties such as onboarding step, paywall placement, monetization cohort, and whether a rule was added or edited
- Purchase, trial, subscription, and revenue events sent by RevenueCat’s existing PostHog integration
PostHog does not receive tip amounts, total sales, tip dates, job/location names, rule labels or percentages, notes, or photos from the new PostHog analytics layer. Session replay, automatic screen capture, surveys, and element autocapture are disabled. We do not use this data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
PostHog privacy policy: https://posthog.com/privacy
Crisp (Support & Feedback)
Opening Support & Feedback in Settings (Contact Support, Report a Problem, or Suggest a Feature) starts a chat with our support team using Crisp. Crisp receives:
- Messages you type in the chat
- Technical metadata used to diagnose issues (app identifier and name, version and build, iOS version, device hardware model, locale, language, timezone, Dynamic Type setting, distribution, and whether you have paid access)
- Photos or files only if you attach them in the chat
The App does not automatically attach tip logs, job names, notes, or photos from tip entries.
Crisp privacy policy: https://crisp.chat/en/privacy/
Camera and Photo Attachments
The App may request camera permission so you can attach photos to tip entries and, if you choose, attach photos in support chat. Photo-library-add permission is used only if you save a photo from support chat. Those permissions are unused unless you choose to take, attach, or save a photo.
Data Retention and Deletion
- On-device data remains until you delete it in the App, delete the App, or erase your device.
- iCloud backup data remains until you disable backup / delete it through Apple’s iCloud tools or uninstall according to Apple’s retention rules.
- Support messages and any attachments you send are retained by Crisp under its policy.
- Purchase records retained by Apple and RevenueCat are governed by their respective policies.
- Product analytics retained by TelemetryDeck and PostHog are governed by their respective policies and retention settings.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently received personal information from a child, contact us and we will address it.
Your Rights (EEA, UK, California, and Similar Laws)
Because we do not operate user accounts or store your tip logs on our servers, most requests about on-device content are handled on your device (delete entries, disable iCloud Backup, or delete the App).
For purchase-related data held by Apple or RevenueCat, contact those providers or use their account/subscription tools.
California residents may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not sell personal information.
If you contact us directly, you may request access to or deletion of correspondence we hold.
Security
We rely on Apple’s platform security for on-device storage. No method of storage is 100% secure; you are responsible for securing your device (passcode, Face ID, etc.).
International Users
The App is offered from the United States. Third-party processors (Apple, RevenueCat, TelemetryDeck, PostHog, Crisp) may process purchase, analytics, or support-chat data in the U.S. or other countries under their policies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
