This Privacy Policy describes how CodeWithChris (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Gout Tracker: Flare & Diet Log mobile application (“Gout Tracker” or the “App”).
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Overview
Gout Tracker is a personal health logging app. It helps you record gout flares, uric acid readings, medications, daily habits, and meals, and look up purine content in foods.
The App is local-first. Your health logs are stored on your device. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not operate a cloud sync service for your health data.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, store on our servers, or receive:
- Your flare logs, uric acid readings, medications, habits, or meal diary entries
- Your name, email address, or other account credentials (the App has no login)
- Your precise location
- Your contacts, photos, or other data unrelated to the App’s purpose
- Advertising identifiers for targeted advertising (the App does not include ad SDKs)
3. Information Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad using Apple’s on-device storage (SwiftData):
- Profile and preferences — diagnosis status, typical joints, uric acid target and unit, onboarding choices, reminder settings
- Flare records — dates, severity, affected joints, trigger tags, notes
- Uric acid readings — values, dates, and related notes
- Medications — names, schedules, and reminder preferences
- Daily habits — hydration, alcohol, and related tracking
- Food diary and favorites — meals you log and foods you mark as favorites
This data remains on your device unless you delete it in the App, use “Delete all data” in Settings, export a PDF and share it yourself, or uninstall the App.
4. Local Notifications
If you enable reminders (for example, hydration or medication reminders), the App schedules local notifications on your device. Reminder content and schedules are stored locally and are not sent to our servers or synced elsewhere.
You can turn reminders off at any time in the App or in iOS Settings.
5. Purchases and Subscriptions
Gout Tracker offers in-app purchases processed by Apple through the App Store, including:
- A lifetime one-time purchase, and
- A monthly auto-renewable subscription (which may include a free trial).
When you purchase or restore access, we use RevenueCat to validate your entitlement to premium features. In that process, RevenueCat and Apple may process:
- An anonymous app user identifier
- Product and subscription status
- Transaction and receipt-related identifiers
- Device and platform information needed to validate purchases
We do not receive your full payment card number or other complete payment credentials. Apple handles payment processing.
For more information, see:
6. Analytics and Tracking
The App does not currently include third-party analytics, advertising, or cross-app tracking SDKs.
If we add analytics or similar services in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy before or at the time those services are enabled, and we will describe what is collected and why.
7. Food Reference Data
The App includes a bundled food catalog with purine content values derived from publicly available USDA and NIH Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS-NIH) data. This reference data is shipped with the App and read locally. Searching or viewing foods does not send your queries to our servers.
8. PDF Export and Sharing
You may export reports as PDF files and share them using the iOS share sheet (for example, AirDrop, Mail, or Files). You choose when and with whom to share exported content. We do not receive copies of exported PDFs unless you send them to us directly.
9. Children’s Privacy
Gout Tracker is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Data Retention
Because your health logs are stored on your device, retention is largely under your control:
- Delete individual entries in the App
- Use Delete all data in Settings to remove logged health data from the device (profile settings such as units and targets may be retained as described in the App)
- Uninstall the App to remove locally stored App data from the device
Purchase records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat according to their respective policies.
11. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of personal information.
Because Gout Tracker stores health logs locally and does not maintain a user account for sync, most data is already under your direct control on your device. For purchase-related data processed by Apple or RevenueCat, you may also use Apple’s and RevenueCat’s privacy tools and settings.
To contact us about privacy requests, see Section 13.
12. Security
We design the App so sensitive health logs remain on your device. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, but we aim to follow reasonable practices for an on-device health logbook app.
You are responsible for securing your device (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and device backups).
13. International Users
If you use the App outside the United States, your information may be processed in countries where Apple, RevenueCat, or their service providers operate. Those providers may process data under their own privacy policies and legal obligations.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be reflected in the App. Continued use of the App after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
