Money Counter Privacy Policy

ByDesign Development Inc., operating as CodeWithChris (“we”, “us”, or “our”), provides the Money Counter iOS app. This policy describes the information we process when you use Money Counter, and the choices you have.

1. Summary

Your cash counts, session names, notes, targets, templates, and similar records are stored on your device. We do not operate a Money Counter account or cloud backup for that content.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not use advertising, IDFA, or App Tracking Transparency in Money Counter.
Opening Support & Feedback sends your message and technical metadata to Crisp so we can help. Photos are sent only if you attach them. Cash counts and other personal logs are not attached automatically.
Product analytics and purchase status go to the service providers listed below.

2. Information stored on your device

Money Counter stores the following locally using Apple frameworks such as SwiftData, UserDefaults, and an App Group shared with the home-screen widget:

Counting sessions, including names, dates, currency, denomination quantities, totals, and optional targets
Custom denomination templates and display preferences (appearance, language)
A snapshot of the active count for the widget (name, formatted total, target, and currency symbol)
Onboarding and subscription-cohort flags needed to show the correct paywall

This information stays on your device unless you export or share it yourself (for example CSV, PDF, or the system share sheet) or you attach something in a support chat.

Deleting the app removes on-device records unless iOS backups still contain them.

3. Information we collect

We do not require you to create an account or give us your name or email to use the app.

3.1 Support chat (only if you contact us)

If you open Contact Support, Report a Problem, or Suggest a Feature, Money Counter starts a Crisp chat and sends:

The messages and files you choose to send
Technical metadata: app name, bundle identifier, version and build, platform, iOS version and build, hardware model (for example iPhone17,1, never the name you gave the device), language, locale, timezone, distribution channel, build configuration, Dynamic Type setting, Pro entitlement (pro, not_entitled, or unknown), and the support intent you tapped

Photos and other attachments are sent only if you add them. Cash counts, notes, and other personal logs are not attached automatically.

3.2 Product analytics

Money Counter sends usage events so we can understand which screens and features people use, and whether the app is working.

PostHog receives product-interaction events (for example onboarding steps, paywall shown, a count completed, export or share used). We do not send count names, notes, cash totals, denomination values, or currency codes to PostHog. Events are associated with the anonymous RevenueCat app user ID. Session replay, surveys, and autocapture are off.

TelemetryDeck receives additional usage events. Some of those events include currency codes, denomination values, quantities, totals, and anonymous session identifiers. They do not include the name you gave a count or the text of notes.

These services typically receive technical information as part of the request, such as IP address, device type, and operating system version.

3.3 Purchases and subscriptions

Payments are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to check whether Pro is unlocked and to restore purchases. RevenueCat processes an anonymous app user ID, product identifiers, trial and subscription status, and related purchase metadata. We do not receive your full Apple ID password or complete payment card number.

3.4 Information we do not collect in the app

Money Counter does not collect precise location, contacts, camera or photo library access (except files you attach in Crisp), health data, or advertising identifiers.

4. How we use information

We use the information above to:

Provide counting, history, widgets, export, and Pro features on your device
Process and restore in-app purchases
Diagnose crashes and support requests
Understand feature usage and improve the app
Comply with law and App Store rules

We do not use this information to show third-party ads, and we do not use it for tracking across other companies’ apps and websites.

We share information only with:

Service providers listed in this policy (Crisp, PostHog, TelemetryDeck, RevenueCat, Apple), who process data on our behalf or as independent controllers of their payment/support platforms
Authorities when required by law
A successor if we transfer the app or company, subject to this policy or equivalent protection

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-app advertising.

6. Retention

On-device counts remain until you delete them or delete the app.
Support conversations are kept as long as needed to help you and operate the inbox.
Analytics and purchase records are kept as long as needed for the purposes above, then deleted or aggregated.

7. Your choices

Do not open Support & Feedback if you do not want a chat session or diagnostic metadata sent to Crisp.
Limit analytics at the device level in iOS Settings where Apple provides those controls.
Manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or via Manage Subscription in the app.
Request access, correction, or deletion of information we hold (for example Crisp conversations or analytics identifiers) at care@codewithchris.com. We cannot remotely delete counts that exist only on your device.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or a similar jurisdiction, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing and to data portability, subject to the law that applies.

8. Children

Money Counter is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact care@codewithchris.com and we will delete it.

9. International processing

We are based in Canada. Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your own.

10. Changes

We will post updates on this page and change the date above. Continued use of Money Counter after an update means you accept the revised policy.
